Breuckelen Build is a general contracting firm in Brooklyn, New York.  We  work in high-end construction and renovation of residential and commercial spaces, and employ a unique specialty in science based, passive-house building techniques.

Gareth Kalber 

Founding Partner

Gareth directs the general operations of all BB projects from early concept stage through final punch list.  With over 15 years of experience in high-end residential construction and complex renovations, he understands the challenges that go into delivering a project on time while maintaining thoughtful design and intricate detailing. 

Gareth is a Passive House Certified Builder and licensed contractor in New York City.  He received his Australian building certification from the Master Builders Institute of Victoria, and returned as a technical lecturer there for several years.  He has been a guest critic at New York City College of Technology, and a lead builder and instructor for Stevens Institute of Technology’s winning Solar Decathlon house in 2013.

Gareth was born in Kent, England and raised in Melbourne, Australia.  He moved to Brooklyn in 2011 and now lives in the Columbia Street Waterfront neighborhood of Brooklyn with his wife Alex,  daughter Charlie, and French Bulldog Helmutt.


Barrett Hamilton

Founding Partner

Barrett leads the construction and fabrication of all BB projects, managing sub consultants and overseeing day-to-day operations on site. He has been working in the building industry for over 20 years, since beginning as a carpentry apprentice with his father’s contracting company back in Lawrence, Kansas. 

During college, Barrett took a break from building to follow another passion and studied music performance (trombone) at the University of Kansas.

Barrett has worked as a builder throughout he United States and as far as New Zealand.  He lives in Greenpoint with his wife Katie.
